Richard Long
Richard Long is an astrophysicist and space technologist working in the science, telecoms and navigation sectors of the European space industry.
A graduate of the Universities of York and Cranfield in the UK, he has worked previously as a Mission Concepts and System designer, later developing a discipline in spacecraft propulsion and assembly and integration infrastructure.
He was a finalist in the first Mission Idea Contest in Tokyo proposing a CubeSat mission to support disaster monitoring and relief.
His broader interests include scientific outreach, multi-disciplinary optimisation and the public understanding of the natural sciences.
He firmly holds the belief that by taking individual responsibility of our planet and shared co-operation for our future we can leave the world a better place than we found it.
